It’s Christmas! After a difficult year, we’re looking forward to the festive season for a chance to rest, recharge and re-evaluate our goals. Christmas is the perfect time to reflect on the previous year and work out what makes you happy, and what doesn’t. With our busy lifestyles slowing down, the break is a great time to identify opportunities for personal growth and plan how you’re going to make 2021 a better year.

A balanced, nutritious diet is the first step towards increased productivity. This includes making sure you get your daily dose of vitamins. Vitamins are essential to support your immune system, and they can also increase our productivity levels. 

For example, B vitamins regulate normal brain function, and are proven to boost energy levels and help you focus. Vitamin B12 is vital for concentration, learning, memory and reasoning. People with a deficiency in B vitamins may be more easily distracted. Therefore, adding vitamins to your routine is a great way to achieve a productive mindset.


Journalling is a mindful activity with many benefits, including increasing productivity by enabling you to set goals and plan your day. It can help you organise your thoughts, process your emotions and develop a level of self-awareness. By recording your goals, you can evaluate progress, motivating you to continue reaching milestones.

Additionally, keeping a journal may reduce anxiety, relieve stress and help you sleep better. It can also build up your confidence, because you have a record of personal achievements to look back on when self-doubt is preventing you from being productive.



Exercising can help you feel mentally refreshed and ready to take on the day. A recent study indicates that exercise during work hours makes us more productive. Participants reported increased job satisfaction and more effective time management.

Therefore, adding fitness to your daily routine will improve your mental wellbeing and boost your productivity! Finding an activity you enjoy will make exercise fun, instead of a chore you have to force yourself to do. Apps like Strava, Couch 2 5k and Auro make exercising easier and more enjoyable.

It’s important to take breaks, recharge and prioritise our wellbeing, as it’s impossible to be productive when we feel overwhelmed. Therefore, going for a walk or taking 30 minutes to meditate can increase productivity


Organising your day into a predictable routine can increase productivity. Creating a routine lets you allocate a dedicated time for a task, meaning you are less likely to put off the tasks you hate! Routine is the best way to achieve your health and wellness goals, whether that’s to run 10k or to get a good night’s sleep.
